Size Matters

Ethan:
If there is one gene that Ethan most likely did not get it is probably height. Both Mom and Dad are average, if not a little petite. However, as of two weeks ago, at the age of 6 weeks, he started wearing size 3-6months. I'm not sure how this is possible. He quickly outgrew the newborn sizes and diapers around week 3, and slowly progressed to size 0-3months. And all of a sudden, his adorable newborn and 3month clothes have started to fill his closet shelf, to my self admitted sadness. The odd thing is, his 0-3month pants and shorts still fit perfectly fine. Every week that passes seems like he is outgrowing another month size. Per Carter brand, he is fitting 6month clothing (24in and 12.5 pounds)!!!! I'm still trying to squeeze as much use as possible out of all his cute 3month clothing; although, with wishful hope that our next child will be another son and can duplicate the cuteness. We've yet to break into the 6month clothing but I'm sure I'll be needing to prewash it all next week. Thank goodness we've been very practical in clothes purchases- polo onesies, Carter pants, and rugby rompers it is for the rest of the summer.

Mom:
Wow, no one told me this was a postpartum aftereffect: How drastic the weight gain and body shape change is. While I knew that 'expansion' was involved, I had no idea to what extent till I went on my first shopping spree. I was a comfortable size 2 prior to the pregnancy, and now I find myself fitting into a much dreaded size 8/10, not necessarily because of weight gain, but the total spreading of hips (which explains how our big baby got out). It is a hard reality to face- no matter how many miles I walk per day and toning exercises- and even if I do make it make it back down to my previous size , I knowingly will never fit into any my pre-pregnancy pants. But, it was all worth the smiling, healthy, cute, precious baby son that we have.

Look Who's Back!!!

Aunt Ellen and Natalie came to visit all the way from Cali!!!!! Ethan was soooo thrilled to see you again. He loves it when you come to cuddle and play with him! The bucket hat and 'fish' swim trunks are adorable. He already misses you.

Lots of love from Natalie and Aunt Ellen (my younger sister).
Too cute.
Looks like someone needs to work on his Cali tan.
"Auntie, can you teach me how to surf too?"

AWWwwww

So many cuddles. Ethan got to meet Natalie for the first time.

Photo Series

Adorable series of photos from the 21st- he loves having his picture taken and was practically flirting with the camera. I'm taking a picture of him in the glider every month thru the first year.

Nope, not a cry but a squeal of delight.

He looks like a little doll.

And, this is from the 25th of May. Our little boy.

Pics

Here are some pics from the last week. He's smiling, 'laughing', and cooing most of the time. And, less naps (aka. time for mom to update the blog). Can't believe how much he's grown/changed just during the last week. His second month checkup is on the 6th and we're anxious to find out his weight and height.
It can't be that bad...
(The onesie says, "Daddy and I agree: Mommy's the boss".)
So here is E being oh so cute on his changer. I started snapping some photos of his ever growing smile. Thought he was smiling for the camera until I looked at the next picture I took...
Here it is....

Dad and E on Father's Day. Daddy had to work, but we went to the restaurant and he got to show off his pride and joy. Good thing Mommy and Baby got him a day out on the links for some relaxation.
Cooooo.

Sleeping E. I risked waking him up to get this pic.

There might have been one too many blankets in his bed (wonder who he gets that from) ;)

He's started to grasp his toys.

My two favorite anglers.

Thanks, Aunt E, for the super cute fishing hat for E! It is perfect!

Happy Father's Day!!!!!

Happy 1st Father's Day
to a Most Incredible Husband and Daddy!!!!!

We always new that we wanted a little one of us...
...but no one told us what we were in for when we stepped through the labor & delivery doors...

Thank you for...

...all the support and comfort throughout the pregnancy and birth: for putting up with the mood swings, all the not-so-glamorous woman issues, the weight gain, being so excited about our first child, keeping the house clean without being asked, making sure I got home from work safe and sound, for seeing me through and holding my hand every second of our son's birth...

...loving me at first sight...

...endless cuddles and calming my cries...

...making the bottles and helping out with 'feedings'

(I'm a hungry growing boy)...

...countless hours and dedication to work (we really miss you when you're gone!)...

...all the splish-splash times and making sure I look my best...

...giving me something to hold on to...

...taking over wee hour of the morning feedings when you get home from a late night at work so mommy can get some much needed sleep (she really appreciates it)....

...showing me how to fish, and the years we'll share trying to catch the big one....

...comforting me through the not so fun pediatrican appointments and making sure I grow up healthy....

....all the singing and introducing me to music

(since we all know mom can't carry a tune)...

...just being an amazing father.

Happy 1st Father's Day!!!!!

We love you sooooo much!!!!!!!!

Road Trip!!

Today E got to go on his first, of many, car trip. We went to visit with his mom's side of the family- many whom he got to meet for the first time: great grandparents, great-great aunt, 2nd cousins, cousin, aunt, great aunts, great uncle. It was such a fun trip, and I enjoyed the travel. I'm impressed that at just six weeks we were able to make the trip all by ourselves. It was great seeing everyone again!!
Here are some of my favorite pics from the trip:

E and his 2nd cousin, S.

She had so many questions and loved holding him. She's going to be such a wonderful big sister!

E was mesmerized by everyone he met.

So many new faces to remember....

Great-Great Aunt S (yes, count 94 years).
Little does E know what an incredible woman she is and how lucky he is to have been held by her!

EXHAUSTED

So many new faces, lots of laughs, lots of little cousins running around...

now it is time to nap!!

E's 6th Week

Week 6Tummy time.
He's now able to hold his head up for several seconds and push up with his arms.
He really likes to sit up and look around. E is for Elephant and E.
He doesn't quite know what to think of his blue elephant.
Lots of love for the frog. Mom & Dad are getting another
frog mobile since he loves it so much.
E's Bentleys.
My two handsome fishermen.
E meeting his friend, L, for the first time.
Two little boys growing up and playing together.

2nd Wedding Anniversary

We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary on the 14th!!!
We walked Lighthouse Beach and enjoyed a romantic dinner at
The Stained Glass- all while E was entertained at home by
Grandmom S. It was so nice to get out, just the two of us,
for some much desired couple time.

E's Week 4

E is growing by leaps and bounds. It is incredible to watch, as we celebrate his one month birthday, his every move- the grins, the stares, the wiggles- and remember that at this time only a month ago that he was born. And yet, I still can't believe that he came out of me ;)
E loves to stretch, follow mom and dad's voice with his tiny blue eyes, turn his head to the sound of a chime or musical toy, squeeze our fingers in his little hands, listen to music and books read to him(especially books with rhyme and repetition, stand on his feet while we hold him, and EAT.

Eat, Sleeps, and Poops. Don't get me wrong. The first week of nursing was exceptionally demanding. We were feeding him, per doctor orders, formula and nursing every two hours, meaning a one hour break in between. As this didn't work out what-so-ever for any of us, we went to three hour feedings, then to four, and four hours apart was a dream. But five hours?? Wow! As of last night he ate 6ozs at 6:30pm, woke up at 10:30pm for a diaper change only to go back to bed, finally waking up at 1:30am to EAT. Repeat till 8:30am. 7 hours?!? Outstanding; though, I hope it isn't a one time deal! As B likes to put it, "He's an overachiever".

Little one having tummy time (not really his favorite).
He's able to scoot by pushing off with his feet supported. May 27, 2009

Cuddly and ready to go on a walk. May 28, 2009

All smiles.

Stretches. E loves to stretch, especially when he is
taken out of his blanket swaddle.
May 29, 2009
Love this pic.
His hairline has receded and thinned about an inch.
Look at me stretch!
E loves to stretch out and flex his muscles before diaper changes.
He has also started to grasp toys and focus his eyes
on his "Fish, turtle, butterfly (pez, tortuga, mariposa)" mobile.
