What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Summer days

Sunny days, feet dangling in the grass, laying here trying to figure out what clouds are.
Ethan and his friend, Liam. It is so fun watching the two of them play together. Liam is adorable, and at 8months able to show Ethan how to do a few things. "Ethan, this is what you do with a rattle."
"Hey, Liam."
"What?"
"Why are our moms taking so many pictures of us?"
Me and Ethan on the Zen-like platform. We got away for the afternoon to The Glens- had a tailgate picnic, fished, strolled through the wildflowers, went to some boutique stores.
Playing on the rope climb at the playground at The Glens.
We thought it was a pretty groovy park; and, while Ethan was too young for it, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Pics of the nursery.
We love to go the playground and swing.

"Can't you tell how much I love swinging?"
Looks like Mom & Dad will be pedaling the boat for a couple more years.

And, growing....

It's amazing how fast Ethan is growing. I realized the other day that I had missed a couple days of taking pictures, even though I usually take tons of him every day, and I was pretty sad. He's growing so fast that I don't want to forget a second. Within the last week or so he's found that his hand is the tastiest thing, discovered he can rub his eye with his drooled on fist, stick out his tongue to imitate Mom and Dad, and as of this morning, saw his feet (though they were covered in puppy dog footies). He enjoys to have books read to him and now concentrates on the pictures- I wonder what he thinks of them. He loves it when I sing him the 'ABC's' and follow it up with his little 'ABC' book. I'm just waiting for the moment when he can say them on his own. And, while he still loathes tummy time, he just loves to sit up and look around. I'm worried that he's going to skip crawling, due to the fact that he hates being on his tummy; but, he's taken to standing up and pushing off with his feet into standing position so well. But most of all, his smiles and little giggle/squeals are the sweetest thing- he is such a happy baby!!
Pacified. Check out that extra chin :)

"Let's go sailing!"
"I wonder where my duckie went."
"Hey, where did my bubbles go?"

An Outing to Our Neighborhood Park- July 18th
It's been so mild outside that I had to dress him in pants and a hooded sweater. I can't wait till he's a bit older to play on the playground with the other kids.
"Push me higher!"

Our growing boy

Here are some recent pics of our growing 2month old boy.
Boo-boos
Poor little Ethan had his first shots on the 6th. He did fantastic, all things considered.
A little pain relief medicine goes a long way.

He also weighed in at 13lbs 10oz. and 24in!!!! He's a chunker.
That would be a 9month onesie on him.
We've done a lot of fishing the last couple days at the ponds in our neighborhood.
He caught this 18in bass.
Say 'cheese'.
This is my little 10in bass. When my face is that close to a moving fish tail, this is about the best smile you'll get out of me. Nor will I hold the fish.
Play time with daddy.
Warning: when playing airplane, watch out down below because the drool will flow.
He's starting to like all the colors on his train.

My little tortuga poking his head out of the shell.

He's finally comfortable sitting in the carrier. Loves to see everything around him.

Ethan's 1st Fourth of July!

Happy 1st Fourth of July to Ethan! So many festivities. We celebrated the fourth of July just as a family: went fishing and enjoyed the gorgeous weather- and Ethan slept the majority of the day so we enjoyed a delicious grilled dinner, bottle of wine, and even a movie. On the fifth, Ethan and I went to CL to enjoy Grandmom Rita's annual holiday bash- the parade and backyard party with family, friends, and all the little cousins. This would be Ethan's second holiday outfit on the fifth. He managed to spoil his first one in a matter of three hours, before we even made it to the parade.
Happy 1st Fourth, sweetheart. Our All-American little baby.
The parade was great as always! Wasn't sure how he would take to the heat and all the sirens, drums, music, cheering, but he thought it was the perfect time to nap. Can't wait till he is old enough to sit on the curb with his cousins to watch the parade and collect the candy.
Stopped by to visit Granddad Smith after all the festivities. He loves to cuddle up with his granddad.
